– The Forbidden
Feast
Ravensley
February 28th 2009
Port Alberni Ravensley is feeling naughty.
We have been told for years what foods we should not serve at
a medieval feast and now we have decided to break all the
rules. We are starting with those historical and sca food
myths, throwing in some foods that are period if served
correctly and rounding it off by breaking a few sumptuary
laws….aren’t we bad?
1 Break the most sumptuary laws, sca or historical contest.
Free yourself from regulations and wear the forbidden. This
one requires documentation of your broken law. Just bring a
copy and we will tote up the offenses.
2 The tin hat of your dreams contest. Haven’t you
always wanted one? This is your chance to sparkle. Points for
style appropriate to your culture and pure glitz. (My
personal favorite.)
3 Faux medieval recipe contest. Devise your own recipe and
write it up in a medieval style. No cooking necessary.
Presentation counts. Wonderful opportunity for the kitchen
challenged.
Join us in our culinary and accoutrement rebellion.
