  • Taking applications for Kingdom DEIB Officer

    The office of the Kingdom Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Belonging (DEIB) Officer is now accepting applications for the position. 

    The Kingdom Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Belonging (DEIB) Officer supports the SCA and Kingdom’s commitment to fostering a respectful, inclusive and welcoming environment for all participants. The office is responsible for providing guidance and support to promote consistency of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging practices within the Kingdom of An Tir.  

    Duties include: 

    • Maintain and support DEIB practice framework aligned with the SCA’s mission and values 
    • Recommend best practices and policy improvements to support equity and inclusion
    • Collaborate with Kingdom officers to ensure consistent implementation of inclusive practices across disciplines 
    • Maintain educational material and workshops to support DEIB awareness 
    • Foster conversations and initiatives around accessibility, cultural representation and respectful historical reenactment 
    • Collaborate and coordinate work with the Kingdom Seneschal to align implementation and discuss future initiatives 

    Preferred Skills and Experience include 

    • Experience in diversity, equity and inclusion work 
    • Strong communication and facilitation skills 
    • Ability to navigate sensitive topics with professionalism, empathy and discretion 
    • Demonstrated commitment to creating inclusive environments in historical reenactment, education or similar spaces 

    This role is not involved in sanctions, investigations, complaints or bullying and harassment concerns as those matters are not part of this office and will be directed to the Kingdom Seneschal’s office.

  • Position Opening:  Kingdom Arts and Sciences Minister

    Interested parties should submit their SCA resume and a letter of intent by July 1, 2026 to the Kingdom Arts and Sciences Minister, Their Royal Majesties, and the Kingdom Seneschal.   This position will start at July Coronation 2026 and last for two years. 

    The Minister of Arts and Sciences is the chief artistic and scientific officer to the Crown and Kingdom. They are responsible for encouraging the research and development of historically accurate arts & sciences, including research papers, across the Kingdom by aiding individuals or branches in networking with other individuals or branches and by encouraging arts & sciences events at the Kingdom, Principality, regional, or branch level.   They are also responsible for organizing and leading the annual Kingdom Arts and Sciences competition, Kingdom Bardic competition, and management of An Tir’s Guilds.

    As a Kingdom Greater Officer, the Minister of Arts and Sciences is required to attend the four Crown events (Crowns and Coronations), the Kingdom Arts and Sciences Competition, and the Kingdom Bardic Competition.   

  • Kingdom Earl Marshal Position Opening

    Interested parties should submit their SCA resume and a letter of intent by July 1, 2026 to the Kingdom Earl Marshal, Their Royal Majesties, and the Kingdom Seneschal.   This position will start at July Coronation 2026 and last for two years. 

    The role of the Earl Marshal is an administrative and advising position currently overseeing all martial activities within the Kingdom of An Tir, plus the work of lists and authorization data entry volunteers.  The Earl Marshal works with those subject matter experts to ensure a consistent approach to safe and enjoyable martial arts participation by approximately 1000 residents of our Kingdom.  General responsibilities for the Earl Marshal as a Greater Officer of State, are explained in Kingdom Law, Article III.C, (items 1-4).  The specific duties are in item (5c) stated below, and the direct deputies of the Earl Marshal are in item (5d).    

    An Tir’s martial manuals state that if you are warranted as the Earl Marshal:      

    1. “You must be an authorized senior marshal in one or more combat disciplines for a minimum of three years, and agree to serve as Earl Marshal.  (The Crown may waive the time limit.)   
    1. Per Article III.C  (item 5c) of Kingdom Law the KEM’s duties include:   
    • Representing the Crown in the Crown’s absence in order to supervise fighting on a field of honor.    
    • Interpreting and maintaining the martial standards and regulations of the Kingdom.    
    • Facilitating the education of the populace with the aim of encouraging authentic, safe, fair, and chivalric combat activities to the greatest extent possible.  
    1. It is strongly recommended that the KEM not simultaneously hold any of the other Kingdom marshal officer roles, including that of Kingdom Armored Marshal.  This will allow the KEM to devote more equitable attention to all of An Tir’s martial activities.  
    1. You must complete quarterly reports to An Tir’s Monarchs, the Royal Heirs (if applicable), the Kingdom Seneschal, and the Society Earl Marshal, regarding the state of fighting in An Tir.  See item (B) for when this report is due.   
    1. If disciplinary action that extends beyond the bounds of a single event is taken against a fighter in your Kingdom (e.g., authorizations suspended or revoked or a Court of Chivalry), you must make a brief account to the Society Earl Marshal of what was done, to whom, and why.  (If more information is needed, for example because of an appeal of the action, the Society Earl Marshal will let you know.)  
    1. Either individual warrants must be provided for each member of the marshallate in your kingdom, or a roster must be maintained as explained by the Kingdom Seneschal.  This task may be delegated to the Kingdom Martial Authorization Officer.  
    1. Answer correspondence from the marshals of An Tir.
