  • AN TIR WEST WAR EVENT STEWARDS NEEDED!

The An Tir West War Financial Committee is looking for those interested in being Event Stewards for An Tir West War 2025

We are in need of 2 Co-Stewards, 1 from the West and 1 from An Tir that can work together to navigate each Kingdom’s cultures, needs and expectations while planning the War jointly. Part of what makes ATWW great is the collaboration between our two Kingdoms!

If you are interested in being an event steward please submit your SCA resume to antirwestwarfinancial@antirwestwar.org, seneschal@antir.org and seneschal@westkingdom.org by November 15th, 2024

This resume does not need to be comprehensive, simply an overview of past events or activities you have helped run/organize in some way and any relevant modern-day experience you would like to include. Please note that war stewarding experience is not required as we have the previous year’s stewards available to help support and guide any new war stewards.

We are also looking for Department Heads, deputies and other volunteers for ATWW 2025. We would love to see a mix of experienced and new leaders from the West and An Tir working together to make this War amazing! A quick overview of some roles can be found at https://antirwestwar.org/staff/

Once the event stewards are selected, they will be announced and then you can also volunteer by emailing EventStewards@antirwestwar.org

    – The second piece can be anything that is SCA appropriate, including original pieces.

    – Each Presentation and Performance will be given 12 minutes (you may divide the time between your presentation and performance however you feel is best)

    DOCUMENTATION:

Documentation is required for at least one of your pieces (though you are welcome to submit for both).

    – Saturday, the performers will be presenting their 1st and 2nd performance pieces. At the end of these performances, the populace will have an opportunity to vote on their favorite performers. The top performers will be presented to Their Royal Majesties and their council to choose the finalists.

    – The final round will be held a short time later on Saturday. The finalists will perform their favorite of the two pieces they submitted.

    – After this round the winner will be chosen by The Crown, with the support of the Current Bardic Champion and the Kingdom A&S Minister, with consideration of the populace vote. The winner will be announced Saturday evening and TRMs will install the new Champion in their court.

  • Bardic Championship Changes

Greetings to the Populace of An Tir:

I bring news regarding the Kingdom Bardic Championship!

In the past this event has been held at Collegium, but it is getting a venue change and will now be held at An Tir Twelfth Night (January 2025).

We are still sorting out the logistics of this change so expect more information to come when we post the Bardic Championship entry information.

There are a few reasons for this change, but the largest ones are:

    • Collegium is transitioning from a Kingdom level event back to a Baronial level event; and,
    • The Kingdom Bardic Championship is undergoing a change for the 2025 season.

The Kingdom Bardic Championship will be converting to a model similar to the Kingdom Equestrian Championship – Kingdom Bardic Scoring Championships will happen throughout our Kingdom (spaced throughout the year) with point finalists performing for the Crown at the end of the season. There will be more details about this change that will be unveiled this Fall, but please be assured we are taking principality locations travel restrictions/hardships into account as best we are able to. We hope this will allow for a more equitable competition with wider participation and more focus on the bardic community at events.

Please contact me if you have any questions regarding these changes (artsnsci @ stage.antir.org/).

    YIS,

    Þóra in fróða, OL

  • May Crown Tournament Format

An Tir, Ulfgar and Juahara send joyous Greetings.  We hope this missive finds you rested and ready for the many gatherings to come.

We wish to share Our fighting format for the upcoming May Crown to choose Our Successors to the Lions Throne.

May Crown will be a Double Elimination Tournament, with each round consisting of a best of 3, and the Finals will be best 3 of 5.  All Society approved tournament weapons and shield variations allowed.

A variable that will be included if necessary is concerning the weather/temperature.

If the forecast for the Tournament is 80F or greater, We would change the format(for the health and safety of all) to a Single Elimination Tournament, each round still best of 3, with the Finals best 3 of 5.
