Those of you who are identified above are respectfully invited to join the Ethereal Court Streamyard session to attend Ethereal Court, if you wish. If you are listed above and are interested in attending the Streamyard and being on the broadcast, please message Greifynja Rauokinn (Misty Edmundson) and she will send you the log in instructions. Otherwise, you are welcome to view the Ethereal Court on both the Kingdom Facebook and YouTube pages at 6pm pacific, this Friday January 6th.
It is very important to Their Majesties that everyone understand that being acknowledged in court is not dependent on anyone’s ability to attend. Your attendance is completely optional and no one is required to be on camera. You are encouraged to do what makes you feel comfortable. The scheduled awards will be announced regardless of whether the recipient joins the Streamyard session.

All, as some of you became aware the Kingdom Arts and Sciences and Rapier Championship had to move its location.  THE ROOMS HAVE NOT BEEN RELEASED YET.  For all of you who took it upon yourselves to call the hotel and try to reserve rooms I’m afraid you have been premature in your assumptions to get a “jump on it.”   It is understandable that everyone wants to get a room at the main hotel, but causing the event team more work is unfair.  We all try to do our best to manage expectations, but instead what ends up happening due to some people’s eagerness, causes more work for the event steward, team and Kingdom officers involved.   We are the ones that get yelled at.

Just a friendly reminder from your Kingdom Seneschal.  It is indoor event time! It is also COLD/FLU/COVID and RSV time.  With that said….DO NOT COME TO THE EVENT IF YOU ARE FEELING UNWELL.  Seriously, I know we joke about it in the past times, but now really isn’t the time to not continue to stay home if you are unwell.  If it makes you feel more comfortable wear a mask.  Consider testing before the event.  Please remember to be considerate of others choices.

Heraldry is in use everywhere in the SCA – from brightly colored pennons & banners flying in the breeze, to tabards and painted shields borne by fighters on the field.

Heraldry is also an important part of identification for kingdoms and branches. Within the modern world, they equate to official logos. And like logos, there are proper ways to display and utilize heraldry. 

Any use of kingdom or branch arms will be perceived – whether intentional or not – as both official and authorized.  When this heraldry is used inappropriately or paired with personal displays, it creates a liability for our organization. When that display contradicts the core values of the SCA, it becomes a legal problem and puts our entire organization in jeopardy.  

To ensure we protect our Kingdom and organization, follow these guidelines when using Kingdom or branch arms: 

• For official and approved purposes, such as newspaper ads, official websites, official business cards. 
• Do not utilize in a way that could be seen as damaging to the integrity or reputation of the Society
• If you are in an official role, exercise particular care because of your leadership roles, and the real, or apparent, influence they may be perceived to have
• Do not use in conjunction with any content that could be interpreted as directly or indirectly participating in, or intervening in, any political campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to) any candidate for elective public office 

This isn’t only good practice, but helps keep everyone aligned with SCA policies.

The 12^th Night Hotel released rooms prematurely and as such the room allocation is now full.  I would like everyone to know, that this is not the fault of the event team and solely lies on the hotel.  The event staff appreciates the kind consideration it has so far received regarding this error.  Anyone found to be abusing the event team in light of this mistake by the hotel will be subject to the normal sanction process.  We ask that everyone continue to treat the 12^th Night team with the same respect you would treat the Crown.

The event team worked very hard to make the room allocation fair as can be. 

How to get on the Wait list for an event hotel room:

Email it to 12thnight2023@antir.org

Put 12th Night Wait List in the subject line

Include the following in the body of the email:

Modern name

SCA name

Contact phone number (please indicate if call or text is preferred)

E-mail

Because of the hotel error, the original plan of using the time sent as the order of the wait list is no longer fair. All of the emails received will be assigned a number, and those numbers will be put into a randomizer to determine the order of the wait list.

This randomizer list will be generated in mid-October, date TBA. Any requests received after the generated list, will be ordered by time stamp. We expect rooms to be released to the wait list in November and December. (In 2020, all people on the wait list received an event hotel room.)

If you wish to release a room back into the booking pool, you MUST email the event team and request the cancellation. If you use the hotel website, or call the hotel, the room you cancel will go out into the international system, and 12th Night will lose the room. You have until 4 January 2022 to cancel without any charges.

On July 14, 2022, Their Majesties, Sven and Rauokinn of An Tir have issued the sanction of Temporary Removal from Participation ‎in the SCA against Johny Ellis, also known in the Society as Taranis Darius. This sanction precludes attendance or participation in any manner ‎at any SCA activity, event, practice, or official gathering for any reason, at any ‎time. This includes a ban on participation in officially recognized SCA social ‎media sites, officially recognized SCA electronic email lists, and officially ‎recognized SCA webpages.
