  • Fall Crown Tournament Information from the Kingdom Seneschal

    An Tir,

Wednesday we made the announcement regarding the Crown Tourney which is to be held in BC.  I wanted to give you some more information about the event itself.

We are still in this pandemic and as such it was decided that the tournament would be the main activity at this event.  There will be no meetings.  Curia and Financial will be scheduled at a later date.

The following will be in place for the event:

    Attendance:

Fighters, Consorts, Greater Officers, Champions, event staff, marshals needed for the tournament, and heralds needed for the tournament will be at the event.  As stated previously there may be by special request to allow those with major court items such as pending peerage elevations to be able to attend in a very limited capacity so that it may be completed within this reign. If you don’t know whether you fall in one of those categories please contact myself.

    • No one is required to come to this event.  If you are required per Kingdom law and can’t attend please contact myself.  (seneschal@antir.org)
    • Pre-Reg is required and will be available in the next couple of days.
    • The Kingdom will be following the mandates in BC regarding vaccination status and mask wearing https://www2.gov.bc.ca/vaccinecard.html and following the Tir Righ Communicable Disease plan.
    • Travelers from the United States should be aware of the travel requirements from the States.  https://travel.gc.ca/travel-covid/travel-restrictions/covid-vaccinated-travellers-entering-canada
    • Camping and limited cabins will be available at the site though the weather could be wet.  The event team will also publishing hotels available around the site.

This isn’t the most ideal situation and I understand people’s frustrations regarding this event.  Please be patient with everyone as we go through the process of setting this event up.  The event team will be updating everyone on all other details including any possible changes to local COVID regulations.

As always, please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions.

Although the SCA complies with all applicable laws to ensure the health and safety of our event participants, we cannot eliminate the risk of exposure to infectious diseases during in-person events. By participating in the in-person events of the SCA, you acknowledge and accept the potential risks. You agree to take any additional steps to protect your own health and safety and those under your control as you believe to be necessary.

  • Fall Crown Tournament

Greetings to the Kingdom of An Tir,

The  Crown Tournament of An Tir will be held on October 8-10, at Camp McLean in Langley, BC, Canada.

Safety is the Kingdom’s number one priority in that the tournament will be open to fighters, consorts, required officers, marshals, event staff and heralds.  There may be by special request to allow those with major court items such as pending peerage elevations to be able to attend in a very limited capacity so that it may be completed within this reign.  Pre-Registration will be required.  The Tournament will take place on Saturday and all though there will be camping the event will be limiting the activities to Saturday only  All attendees will be required to social distance and wear masks when not actively engaged in fighting or actively eating or drinking.  Provincial requirements will be in place for the event.

Over the last 17 months the Kingdom has steered its way through a pandemic.  We have been flexible, adjusted our expectations and adapted to change in ways we had never thought possible before.

We are asking the Kingdom for that flexibility once again.

We understand this is not an ideal situation.  Please know that every possible scenario has been looked at.  We also realize that some people may not feel comfortable attending Crown.  If any required officer is uncomfortable attending the event please contact the Kingdom Seneschal directly.

Pre-Reg and other information will be coming.

If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to the Crown or Kingdom Seneschal.

  • September Crown, hear now the words of the Crown.

    An Tir,

We are moving closer to the time where we hope for the return and reuniting with friends and family from afar. As we approach this time, we need to be aware and mindful of the outside factors that may impact our plans and which may, in the more extreme cases, potentially postpone them.

As always, logistics, policy, politics, health, infection rates, and financial barriers are considerations behind Our decisions to re-open and continue Our Kingdom’s progress toward sustainable event planning, and reinstating Kingdom level eventing.

At the core of Our current considerations is the upcoming potential to hold Our Crown tournament, Sept 4.

Our position has always been to resume as normal within Our typical Kingdom calendar, upon reopening.  We hoped to bring our Kingdom back together with the fewest issues or complexities that changing key event dates, or combining events could potentially cause.

At this time, We believe the best path forward considering the developing trajectory of current concerns of COVID-19, is to cancel the current plans for Our Crown Tournament, and postpone to a later date.

We have maintained since the beginning that one of the conditions required to hold Our Crown Tournament is that the International border must be open for non-essential travel. With that in mind, the potential need to postpone Our September Crown tournament and not proceed to Our final step of event openings has always been present and possible.  Currently there are considerations that remain, and this has prompted this decision.

As the time has come closer, We have considered deadlines and the work being done to prepare for this event.  We are aware of the complexities and impact this will have on the people involved, the local groups, and those planning to attend.

We want to thank the event team and those involved in the planned execution of this event, for their hard work under the expected difficulties the first major events were likely to face.

We have heard your voices, and We have taken your words to heart.  Many wish for a return, and others ask for caution and delay; We weigh all of these considerations when We plan how to move forward for this great Populace that We have vowed to protect with all of Our power.

We will be reviewing the potential dates to hold Our postponed Crown Tournament, and We will announce our planned new date as soon as possible via the kingdom webpage, and We will communicate as best as is possible across all available social media platforms.

Thank you for your understanding, as We navigate these delicate actions toward our long awaited return.

  • Regarding Society’s Notice of Restrictions

To the Kingdom of An Tir

In light of the notice from Society last night regarding food and drink it is the Kingdom’s stance that we will NOT be changing the current requirements at this time.

Please continue with the re-opening plan that was laid out in June.

    Remember:

Rosters are to be signed with information on how to reach you.  Failure to do so will subject you to sanctions.  If you are uncomfortable leaving your contact information on the sheet please make sure the person in charge of those rosters receives your information directly.

Any positive result of COVID at an in-person activity needs to be reported to the Seneschal’s office (Principality or Kingdom) as soon as possible.  Be ready to provide your roster sheets.  The Kingdom and Principality have a workflow that will be followed. The name of an infected person WILL NOT be released.  Dates of possible exposure will be.

The language from the Society’s office MUST be posted on everything.  If you question whether you should post it, then it needs to be posted.

As with everything please remember we are all volunteers.  Your Crown, Seneschal, local Senechals, Marshals etc. are doing the best they can.  These circumstances change on a daily basis.  Kindness goes a long way.  Please do not abuse the officers.  They are doing the work for you and the safety of the Kingdom.

From Society: “No matter what safety precautions we put in place, there is no substitute for each individual being educated about the risk to themselves and their loved ones and making responsible choices to protect themselves and others from this virus.”

Thank you.  As always, please feel free to email me should you have any questions.  Seneschal@antir.org

This notice does not supersede the already outlined policy for reopening.  This is in addition to the current policy.

    1. Reporting a positive case of close contact

  • Remember to Submit Your Crier Copy

    Hello Everyone,‎

As we get back to doing in-person events I need to remind you all of a couple of things. ‎Event Copies MUST be published in the Crier if any Court business is to be held. This goes for ‎virtual events also. Event stewards need to start writing crier copy ‎again. This is effective immediately. Any events you are planning on doing in August will not ‎meet the requirements to have Court business. Any Court business does not become official until it ‎is read into a Court at an event that is published in the Crier. If you have any questions, please ‎let myself or the Kingdom Chronicler know.‎
